Teamfight Tactics turned Riot's auto-battler spinoff into one of the most played modes to come out of the League of Legends universe.
With matches that can run anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes, players often queue up game after game in one sitting.
Which makes one question worth answering properly, especially since it's played on both PC and mobile.
So, how much internet data does Teamfight Tactics use?
On average, Teamfight Tactics uses somewhere around 40 to 60 MB of internet data per hour, landing closest to 45 MB per hour for typical play.
You'll see 60 MB per hour quoted all over the internet as a fixed number for this game, but as I'll explain, that figure needs a bit of context.
In this article, I've broken this down honestly, including a heads-up about where a lot of that "60 MB" figure online actually comes from.
So, without any further ado, let us dive right into it!
Internet Data Usage of Teamfight Tactics
Here's something worth being upfront about. When I dug into TFT's data usage, I found that "60 MB per hour" shows up on multiple different websites, word for word, the exact same paragraph, republished across each one.
That's not five sources agreeing, it's one piece of content copied five times, so I'm treating it as a single, unverified data point rather than a well-corroborated figure.
A separate claim that Riot Games officially states 25 MB per hour also turned up, but it appears on a site with no link back to any real Riot statement, so I'm not confident that's genuine either.
What I can reason from more confidently is TFT's relationship to League of Legends, since it runs on the same client. Independent multi-game comparisons put League of Legends at roughly 50 to 100 MB per hour, and TFT, with its slower-paced, less action-dense gameplay, would reasonably sit at or below the lower end of that.
Balancing that reasoning against the widely-repeated 60 MB figure, which is at least plausible even if poorly sourced, my best estimate lands at around 45 MB of internet data per hour, with 60 MB being a realistic upper bound rather than a certainty.
So, we can conclude that the internet data usage of Teamfight Tactics is around 45 MB per hour, with usage up to 60 MB per hour depending on your setup.
From this, it's pretty straightforward to figure out the weekly and monthly data consumption as well!
If you play Teamfight Tactics for one hour every day for a week, the total internet data used would be around 315 MB per week.
And if you play for one hour every day throughout an entire month, the total data consumed would come out to around 1.32 GB per month.
Now, you might also want to know how much data Teamfight Tactics uses based on how long you play each day.
I've put together a handy table below to help you with exactly that!
I've done all the math already, so you don't have to worry about it.
Here's the table:
| Playtime per day | Data usage per day | Data usage per week | Data usage per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | 45 MB | 315 MB | 1.32 GB |
| 2 hours | 90 MB | 630 MB | 2.64 GB |
| 3 hours | 135 MB | 945 MB | 3.96 GB |
| 4 hours | 180 MB | 1.23 GB | 5.27 GB |
| 5 hours | 225 MB | 1.54 GB | 6.59 GB |
| 6 hours | 270 MB | 1.85 GB | 7.91 GB |
| 7 hours | 315 MB | 2.15 GB | 9.23 GB |
Note: The data usage of Teamfight Tactics has been taken as 45 MB per hour in the above table, and does not include third-party voice chat like Discord.
Does Teamfight Tactics use a LOT of Internet data?
Not really. Even at the higher end of the estimate, Teamfight Tactics is a light-to-moderate game on data, well below shooters and battle royales.
One thing that genuinely does affect your data is voice chat, since TFT doesn't have any built in. If you're chatting with friends over Discord or a similar app while playing, that can add up to another 120 MB per hour on top of the game itself, potentially doubling your total usage.
The other thing worth watching is patch updates, which for TFT and League of Legends tend to land around 500 MB or more depending on the size of the patch, and these roll out roughly every two weeks during an active season.
So overall, for casual players sticking to solo queue without voice chat, Teamfight Tactics is a pretty safe pick on a limited data plan.
Conclusion
In this article, I've answered one of the most commonly asked questions among Teamfight Tactics players: how much internet data the game actually uses.
I've also explained why the "60 MB" figure you'll see everywhere online should be taken with a grain of salt, and why voice chat is the bigger factor to actually watch.
I'll keep updating the data in this article as things change over time.
Note: The data in this article is up-to-date, as of 24th July 2026.
Now, I'd love to hear from you:
Do you play Teamfight Tactics? If yes, are you a solo queue grinder or do you play with friends on Discord?
Or maybe you've got a question!
