Stardew Valley is one of those games that somehow manages to pull you in and keep you hooked for hundreds of hours.
When a player first starts their journey in the game, a few questions naturally tend to come up.
And one that gets asked quite a bit is about how much internet data Stardew Valley actually uses.
So, how much internet data does Stardew Valley use?
In single player mode, Stardew Valley uses absolutely no internet data (0 MB per hour), since the game runs entirely offline.
However, in multiplayer mode, the game uses around 10-20 MB of internet data per hour, which is exceptionally low even by online gaming standards.
The internet data usage in multiplayer can vary slightly depending on various factors, but it generally stays around 15 MB per hour for most players.
In this article, I've answered this question in more detail!
I've also answered another related question that comes to the minds of a lot of Stardew Valley players!
So, without any further ado, let us dive right into it!
Internet Data Usage of Stardew Valley
I did some research to find out the actual internet data usage of Stardew Valley.
I reached out to a few friends who play Stardew Valley and asked them to track the data the game consumed on their devices during a session.
I kept an eye on the same thing on my end as well.
All of us played Stardew Valley for one full hour, separately in single player and in multiplayer on our respective devices and then noted down the data used during each type of session.
The single player results were immediately clear.
Since Stardew Valley runs completely offline in single player mode, the game consumed absolutely no internet data whatsoever, that is, 0 MB per hour.
In multiplayer sessions, I found that the data usage of Stardew Valley was in the range of 10 MB to 20 MB per hour across the different devices and setups.
On the majority of the devices, the game consumed around 15 MB of internet data per hour during multiplayer play.
So, we can conclude that the internet data usage of Stardew Valley is 0 MB per hour in single player and around 15 MB per hour in multiplayer mode.
From the multiplayer figure, working out the weekly and monthly data usage is very easy!
If you play Stardew Valley in multiplayer for one hour every day for a week, the total internet data used would be around 105 MB per week.
And if you play for one hour every day throughout an entire month, the total data consumed would come out to around 450 MB per month.
Those are genuinely some of the lowest numbers you'll find for any online multiplayer game!
Now, you might also want to know how much data Stardew Valley uses in multiplayer mode based on how long you play each day.
I've put together a table below to help you out with that!
All the math is already taken care of, so you just need to look up your daily playtime and you're good to go.
Here's the table:
| Playtime per day | Data usage per day | Data usage per week | Data usage per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 hour | 15 MB | 105 MB | 450 MB |
| 2 hours | 30 MB | 210 MB | 900 MB |
| 3 hours | 45 MB | 315 MB | 1.35 GB |
| 4 hours | 60 MB | 420 MB | 1.8 GB |
| 5 hours | 75 MB | 525 MB | 2.25 GB |
| 6 hours | 90 MB | 630 MB | 2.7 GB |
| 7 hours | 105 MB | 735 MB | 3.15 GB |
Note: The data usage of Stardew Valley has been taken as 15 MB per hour in the above table. This applies to multiplayer mode only. In single player mode, the data usage is 0 MB per hour.
Does Stardew Valley use a LOT of Internet data?
In single player mode, Stardew Valley uses zero internet data, making it one of the most data-friendly games you could possibly play.
Even in multiplayer mode, the game uses only around 15 MB per hour, which is about as low as online gaming data usage gets.
To put that into perspective, you could play Stardew Valley in multiplayer for an entire week and still use less data than a single hour of most other online games!
